Sheet Metal Guy Introduces Ductwork
Calculators
Cincinnati, OH,
March 1, 2007
— Sheet Metal Guy, LLC announced today two web
calculators to help sheet metal designers develop transitions and cones.
The calculators create DXF files that include a 3D wireframe model as
well as the flat pattern.
The file may then be imported into any CAD program which has DXF
capabilities, like
AutoCAD,
SolidWorks, Solid Edge, and Inventor.
Using the ductwork transition tools,
you can compute
any standard rectangle (square) to round
transition, or any cone transition. The 3D geometry is placed on a separate
layer from the flat pattern layout making it easy for you to work with the
results. A
Rectangle (Square) to Round Transition
can be produced
by entering the diameter of the round, the length and width of the rectangle,
and the height of the transition. A
Cone Transition can
be produced by entering the diameter of the top and the bottom, as well as
the height of the cone. The flat layouts are automatically generated.
Now any manufacturer can produce flat pattern layouts for these transitional 3D shapes in
minutes instead of hours, without having to manually calculate using
trigonometry.
