Jog Fixed Length vs
Non-fixed Length To do this, create an 8 x 14 rectangular base flange. Click the Jog button in the “Sheet Metal” toolbar, or pull down the “Insert” menu and pick Sheet Metal – Jog. Sketch a horizontal line 4.00 from the edge of the base flange, as shown in Figure 1.
In the Jog PropertyManager, under Jog Offset, set a Blind Offset Distance of 2.50. Check the Fix projected length check box. As you can see, as shown in Figure 2, the overall length of 8.00 is preserved. The upper flange remains approximately 4.00 in length. The unfolded part size is increased to hold the 3D folded dimensions.
In Figure 3, the Fix projected length check box is unchecked. As you can see, the length of the upper flange is shorter. No material is added to the part to make the jog because SolidWorks uses the the fixed length of 8.00 to create the jog rather than adding material to the part. The flat pattern length remains 8.00.
